Beyond the Diagnosis: Using DSM-5-TR V Codes and ICD-10-CM Z Codes in Behavioral Health Practice (Self-Study)

This recorded training will provide more context on the use of DSM-5-TR V codes and ICD-10-CM Z codes in diagnosis and treatment practice. DSM-5-TR V Codes and ICD-10-CM Z Codes provide a structured method to capture social, environmental, relational, legal, educational, occupational, and economic factors affecting a client’s presentation, functioning, treatment engagement, and prognosis. Research continues to indicate low usage of V and Z codes in treatment despite the importance of social determinants of health in psychiatric and mental health outcomes. This training will provide individuals with the purpose and relevance of these codes as well as allow folks to identify commonly used V/Z codes and how to integrate them into treatment planning and progress notes.
