Clinical Documentation: Engaging in Effective and Appropriate Treatment Planning (Self-Study)

This course will serve to support clinicians’ experience with an important aspect of clinical documentation – the treatment plan. For many clinicians and service providers, the treatment plan serves as an important baseline in outlining the treatment process. It is also a dynamic document that continues to grow, evolve, and shift to mirror clients’ growth and overall process in treatment. The treatment plan provides resources for supporting clients as well as provide a reference point that aids in resolving impasses.  However, for many clinicians, treatment plans may seem like just tedious paperwork needed for compliance. This course aims to shift this perspective by highlighting the role and importance of treatment plans, increasing clinicians’ confidence in creating effective goals and S.M.A.R.T objectives within treatment plans and using them as the collaborative and effective tools that they can be.
