The True Implications of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is a course designed to provide participants with an understanding of the dynamics and impact of intimate partner violence on individuals and communities. This recorded training emphasizes the importance of recognizing signs of IPV, understanding the root causes, and implementing effective intervention and prevention measures. This course introduces the application of restorative justice approaches to address the complexities and consequences of IPV.
The training will allow participants to define IPV and explore various forms, dynamics and prevalence. Participants will also explore the psychological, emotional, physical, and social impact on individuals who experience IPV as well as the broader effects on families and communities. Participants will discuss the cycle of violence and look at the stages that often characterize abusive relationships. The course will encourage participants to identify risk factors and warning signs. Participants will also investigate how factors like race, ethnicity, gender-identity, sexual orientation, and disability intersect wit IPV, and understand the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities.
Finally, the training will discuss support and intervention strategies and discuss the importance of creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for disclosure.
